1. Project Name

Nanxi Academy is an integrated building community, which includes art galleries, museums, artist studios, and artist sketching bases.

The academy mainly involves:

Chinese traditional culture forum, academic research; art exhibition and art management;

College sketching teaching, artist sketching base; agricultural and sideline products, art derivatives development.

3. Development Goal

The ultimate goal of the project is to establish a pilot site for Rejuvenation of Chinese Traditional Culture Base

Three stages:

① Initial stage

October 2016 - October 2017.

We held two calligraphy and painting exhibitions on the basis of the “Chuxi Jingshe” hotel. We also received more than 10 art-sketching groups, in addition, we held summer camps and public welfare lectures, and an international academic forum was included as well.

② Expanding and developing stage

October 2017 - 2021.

On the one hand, we will complete brand activities such as “Yongjia Interpretation”, “when Paris meets Wenzhou”, and “when London meets Wenzhou”, as well as the opening of academy forum and sketch base. On the other hand, we will complete the main infrastructure and hardware configuration.

③ 2021-2025

We will have basically built the Rejuvenation of Chinese Traditional Culture Base, and all activities will be carried out in an orderly manner.

④ From 2025, we will be able to provide project guidance and cooperation for the rejuvenation of traditional cultural bases in other parts of the country.

4. Overall Arrangement

① The center construction covers 200 mu (0.13 km²), and the usable area covers 3000 mu(2km²).

② One primary point, two secondary points and multi-point:

One primary point: Nanxi River Scenic Area, Yongjia County

Two secondary points: Shiweiyan World Geopark, Hesheng Town, Yongjia County, and Yandang Mountain Scenic Spot, Yueqing City

Multi-point: Eight scenic spots of Nanxi River, Yandang Mountain and Baizhangji

③ Refinement of the structure

One primary point:

Shang Richuan village of Hesheng Town. It includes Yong Jia Art Gallery, which is about 7500㎡, and the Exhibition Hall of Traditional Painting (including Traditional Tree Painting Museum, Museum of mountains, stones, clouds and water, Green Mountains and water Museum, Landscape and Characters Museum, Sketch and Creation Museum)which is about 11000㎡; Traditional Culture Museum includes one Chinese Calligraphy Museum; one Chinese Poetry; Guqin and Chess Art Museum; one Farming-reading Culture Exhibition Hall; one Southern Classical Opera Culture Research and Exhibition Hall, which covers 4800 ㎡in total; one Experts Reception Building; and 10 studios of famous artists, which cover 5500㎡.

Two secondary points:

Nanxi Academy in Shi Weiyan scenic area. Yang Dangshan sketching base. Bai Zhangji sketching base.

④Radiation area: all over China and Europe and America, mainly in southern Zhejiang and the Yangtze River Delta.

⑤Reception capacity: we can receive 2,000 people at the same time.

5. Culture and Natural Ecological Space

① Eight Mountains, one water and one field in South Zhejiang: It is suitable for Chinese painting, sketching and research, and it provides good natural resources for artistic creation.

② Profound humanistic heritage: it is the birthplace of landscape poetry, the birthplace of the South Classical Opera, which has left many celebrities’ footprints and cultural heritage in history.

③ The ancient village group: it is one of the birthplaces of Farming-reading Culture, and it provides fertile ground for studying contemporary gentry culture and clan culture.

6. Requirements of the Buildings

① The building itself is a piece of art, and it appears as a cultural landmark in the Nanxi River basin. Combining the traditional local building materials and natural landscape elements to show the philosophy of "harmony between man and nature".

② The functional layout of the building reflects the concept of traditional culture and local culture.

7. Publishing

①We published magazine Nanxi Academy as a book two issues a year. Six columns of painting, calligraphy, guqin, poetry, farming-reading culture and southern classical opera have been opened up to disseminate the essence of traditional Chinese culture around the activities of the center.

②We published the collections of “Yongjia Interpretation” –“Xiang” Thinking and Chinese Landscape Painting".

③We published When Paris Meets Wenzhou - A Collection of Wenzhou Sketches and Creations by Chinese and French Artists and other works.
